Cyanotypes
Instructor: Hillary Griffith
August 10th, 2024 9:00-11:30 am
The Art Center Ramona - 438 Main St.

Hillary Griffith will teach this fun activity.  Participants will arrange objects onto a piece of sun-print paper, then leave it in the sun. The UV-sensitive paper reacts to light waves and particles when exposed to the sun preserving your images on the photosensitive paper.

While we wait for the sun "to do its thing", we will have the opportunity to safely observe the sun through a telescope equipped with a hydrogen-alpha filter. This will allow us to see sunspots (darker, cooler magnetic areas on the surface of the sun), solar flares and flame-like prominences which can be seen on the edge of the sun depending on the solar activity that day.

Class is free, thanks to a generous grant to the art center! But you need to register to reserve your space. Space is limited, and registration is required, so sign up now!

This course has ended, thank you for participating. We hope to see you at our later classes.
