Make your own stunning silver jewelry while learning how to use silver metal art clay (PMC).  Students will learn metal clay basics while making a fine silver pendant and earrings they can wear home!

This is a great introduction to silver metal clay and making jewelry.  Students will learn how to form, texture, fire and finish precious metal clay (PMC) while making earrings (or charms) and a pendant.  We will also touch on some basic wire wrapping and blackening silver to finish your projects. Students will walk away with their own ready to wear fine silver creations. Students will receive 15 grams of fine silver for their project included in the price of the course. Students are often able to make more than a pair of earrings and pendant depending on the size they choose.

Suitable For: Ages: 16 and up.

Cost: $150 includes the clay

Summer Art Camp for Kids - Part 1 - Art

When: June 24, 25, & 26 (Tues, Wed, Thurs.) 9:00 a.m. - Noon

Day 1 ART– Artists will paint a Picasso-inspired portrait.  They may choose to make a self-portrait or create a unique face!  By using oil pastels and liquid watercolors, artists can ensure their creations will be bold and bright.

Day 2 ART – Artists will build an architectural letter to represent their first name.  Construction will include a discussion of strength based on form.  Letters will be decorated with pencils, pens, and paper to create a monogram they will enjoy seeing on display.

Day 3 ART and Reception – Artists will create pop-up greeting cards to draw, paint, or collage, whatever the mechanism inspires in them.  With some cuts, it might inspire an alien, a shark, or a lion.  Each child will be encouraged to determine their own creations!  Students will also be taught how to create an envelope for the cards they make.   Part of this session will include how to use a ruler.

At the end of Day 3 of camp, student artists will exhibit their artwork at a reception for parents and families from 11 a.m. to noon.  Light refreshments will be available.

Wild Wire to Wearable Fused Glass

First Sunday of the month with some variation - 9 to 11 a.m.

Location:

The Art Center Ramona

438 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065, USA

The options of jewelry making with glass and wire are vast. Over 13 years of experimentation I've found some things that work well and I'd like to share with people interested in glass and jewelry. In this workshop we get right to work forming silver to embed between layers of Glass that will be fused in a kiln. Students will have unique handmade glass pendants after firing or forged wire work to take home the day of the workshop if their interest is working with wire. Small wire sculpture is an option to work on as well.  Work with wire only for $25.00

Beginners welcome all materials provided.  We start with forming a silver bail to be embedded between the layers of glass, choose glass colors you like and work in some wire or other extras.  Top with clear glass and it's ready to fire.  Advance to etching dichroic glass and painting on glass with liquid glass.

Cost: $50 or work with wire only for $25.00

Tuesday Nights is a series of art Labs for local creative types facilitated by artist Helen Wilson. Each series is built around one project idea. The project ends in an exhibition, but mostly, this is a way to advance your creative skills while socializing with others of your artistic ilk. We don't care how long you have been at it. Some of us have been plowing the creative fields for some time, while others are just starting; all that matters is your willingness to jump in and take chances; after all, it's only art!
